Laser Vein Removal – Spider Veins

Reduce the appearance of unsightly spider veins

What are Spider Veins?

Spider veins are tiny, superficial, dilated vessels, which are prominent beneath the skin surface, and often occur on the legs, however can develop on other areas of the body, like the cheeks and nose.

Spider veins develop due to weakening of the vessel wall and/or the valves which control blood flow, thereby causing the tiny vessels to dilate. They are unlike varicose vessels, which are larger, thick-walled veins that protrude and become palpable beneath the skin surface.

Varicose vessels are best treated surgically by a vascular specialist.

Common factors for the development of spider veins

  • prolonged standing and/or sitting
  • wearing heels
  • crossing the knees
  • pregnancy
  • obesity
  • genetic predisposition.

Although it is very difficult to prevent the development of spider veins, we can help to manage the vessels and improve their appearance with a course of Excel V laser vein removal treatments.
